Rise of Communism in China - 3062 Words
Rise of Communism in China Introduction The main reason why the Communists came to power in China was because of the failing policies and actions used by Kuomintang (Chinese Nationalists) of which the CCP (Chinese Communist Party) took advantage. However in addition to that, there were also significant factors such as the poor conditions during the beginning of the twentieth century in the Republic of China and the Japanese War (1937 Ãâ" 1945), that led to the insufficiency and weakness of the GMD (Chinese Democratic Party) during the Civil War. Their leader, Chiang Kai-Shek, lost the support of the majority, mainly peasants and intellectuals, to the CCP, which contributed to their success in war. In addition to GMDs actions, Maoâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦At the beginning the GMD sought to bring about a democratic revolution. Their socialist leader, Sun Yatsen, therefore introduced three principles, Nationalism, Democracy and Peoples livelihood. His idea of Nationalism consisted of a strong central government, whi ch would have had to be able to force out foreign influence and restore independence of China. Democracy was Suns attempt to secure liberty and equality, in a country, which previously had a long history of imperial dynastic rule. In addition to this he demanded a fair distribution of wealth such as land and reflection of peoples livelihood. It became obvious that there was no harmony in the Chinese society. Mainly the warlords and foreigners increasingly contributed to the division of the country. In addition, the privileged classes established an opposition. Chiang Kai-Shek After Sun Yatsens death in 1925, Chiang Kai-Shek (also a GMD member) took over GMD leadership, confronting his problems in a more aggressive way than Sun Yatsen did. General Chiang Kai-Shek mainly concentrated on the military unification and reforms were regarded of a minor importance. Already, in 1927 he dictated a massacre in the city of Shanghai where 6000 communists were ruthlessly killed. Due to this, the left wing GMD members split. Chiang organized his own nationalist government at Nanjing, in 1928. Behaviours and Attitudes of Shoppers regarding Kellogs Products and Se Research Proposal
Essays on Behaviours and Attitudes of Shoppers regarding Kellogs Products and Services Research Proposal The paper ââ¬Å"Behaviours and Attitudes of Shoppers regarding Kellogs Products and Servicesâ⬠is aà forceful version of the research proposal on marketing. Qualitative research technique is chosen to measure shopperââ¬â¢s attitudes, behaviours, of Kellogs cereal and snack products. The techniques were chosen because it attempts to gain a clear understanding of any existences of opinions, it assesses them broadly so as to assess their depths and breaths of attitudes. The researcher will need to demonstrate how the research will be carried out that will outline the dominant feelings of shoppers buying patterns. Human behaviours are best explained using qualitative research, this is because human phenomenaââ¬â¢s that cannot be investigated by direct observations such as attitudes and other emotions are best studied using qualitative methods. The need to assess shopperââ¬â¢s attitudes and behaviours of Kellogs products is important as they will be able to use the result s to evaluate their marketing strategy to come up with a marketing plan (Burns, 2000 pp. 343).Another reason why the technique was chosen for the study is that it emphasizes understanding rather making measurements to the respective attitudes and behaviours. The qualitative method mainly focuses on the use of words, images, narratives and concepts. The quantitative research is a concern with numbers and statistics and concern itself with providing information. Another factor that makes the qualitative approach more advantageous to quantitative approach is that Kellogs is that the researcher will be able to start to make analysis during data collection process this is compared to quantitative techniques where analysis begins after the data collection process. Through qualitative techniques, Kellogs will be able to get attitudes and behaviours of a different class of shoppers. Qualitative method will focus on positivism paradigm this will enable the researcher to establish facts or ca uses of shoppers behaviours and attitudes. Opinions from the data findings will provide the necessary feedback to assess views of shoppers regarding Kellogs products performances in the markets. Because of the unstructured nature of qualitative techniques does have guidelines which will be used to explore research questions, this will act as a topic guide (Research development foundation, 1999 pp200). The checklists will include background informationââ¬â¢s questions and the varieties of products of the company.Research methodsTo be able to understand the behaviours and attitudes of shoppers regarding Kellogs products and services via qualitative research, depth interviews and direct observations will be administered to a number of shoppers in a number of stores, supermarkets. The segments will involve teenagers and children who are accustomed to snacks, the next segment involves parents, households and individuals who are in use of cereals. The use of structured interviews will create one to one conversations that will aim of the research but is largely dictated by all kind of situations. The interviews can produce sensitive issues and respondents can answer in their own time in their own way.The use of questions gives the interviewer to get more informationââ¬â¢s by using probing questions about the nature of the products; it also enables the interview to get information through interaction and genuine conversations. The interviewer does yield higher response rates mainly because it is different for the subjects to completely refuse to answer questions or to ignore the interviewer. It is also the best method that is flexible because it will enable the interviewer to adopt any kind of situations which will help the respondent to give relevant responses. The study will also use direct observation a technique that describes behaviours in a natural setting and is made possible by the use of participant observations, where the research will be part of the p articipants' understudy. This will be carried out with some of the children and teenagers who will be offered the snacks, during such interactions observations will then be made. The research will also take a systematic procedure for identifying informationââ¬â¢s and how the data will be gathered this will be on the basis of a field diary, where the researcher will draw a stimuli from the chosen environment, which will be supported by the use of sound recordings and photographs (Bryman Bell, 2003 pp.14).
Forum Discussion on Marxism
Question: Discuss about the Forum Discussion on Marxism. Answer: Introduction Karl Marx lived in the 19th Century, an era that is very different from ours. It was the time when the major existing features of the society were beginning to take shape. Some of the vital theories of Karl included labor theory of value or the theories of profit. These have pertained to be outdated in the recent time in the new version of capitalism that is characterized by low wage rate and increased productivity (Stolze 1998). The intellectual conceptions and the collective economic change can be easily agreed with the fact that the actual concept of Marxism has completely lost its relevance in the recent time. Industrialization and globalization has brought the changes in this concept. Contribution of women in work had been considered as non-paid work. If the recent situation is considered, there is no doubt that girls and women have been doing better than boys and men in every field starting from school and education life to even the work life (Stolze 1998). In 1950, only one-third of the working women used to do paid jobs but the percentage of paid working women has been increasing since then (Sofronov et al. 2008). The situation is evident all over the globe in countries like Italy, Japan and the major developed nations like UK and US. There are misleading talks of womens entry in the work force but that does not going to change the actual situation of economy and societal condition. The concept of Marxism shall help to understand the workplace situation because Marxism is related to productivity and economy of business. In the recent time, production of goods and knowledge accompanied with skills has transformed the utopia of the earlier thinking related to work culture. Marx has significantly helped to create a vision of communism out of human and technological possibilities considering the changes in priorities in the society. Projecting the concept of Marxism from the past to the future, one shall be able to analyze the link between the economic and societal pattern in the work culture. This way the work environment can be easily understood. References: Sofronov, V., Jameson, F., Amariglio, J. and Madra, Y.M., 2008. Leisure Essays - Leisure, Quality Of Life, Working Time, Retirement
Leisure John Bell Sociology 2/10/00 Where Is All My Time At? Leisure is defined as freedom from the demands of work or duty. Everybody needs leisure in their lives, to balance the stress of work and life. Leisure helps re-energize and relax people, so they can perform activities well in their lives. People use their free time (leisure time) in a variety of different ways; engaging in outdoor activities, entertainment like watching movies or television, or just having time to themselves.. Another activity people enjoy doing is just socializing with family and friends. Leisure is an essential part of our lives, and the only problem with leisure is when can we enjoy it? In our society we have a hard time finding time to relax and take a break from our stressful lives. The amount of leisure time a person has can be related to the type of person that certain individual is. There are many factors in which you can take in account: age, marital status, gender, families, etc. These factors figure into the certain stage of a persons life. There are three stages, beginning, mid-career, and near-retirement. The beginning stage involves people from the ages ranging from 19-30 years old. These individuals are just beginning their careers and are striving to be successful. They spend more time focusing on their job, trying to find ways to advance, and less time relaxing and enjoying leisure time. They compensate their leisure time for their careers. Mid-career stage includes individuals ranging from 30-50 years old. In this stage people have been in their field for some years and are settled down with families. In this time of their lives they will be looking for more leisure time, because they are going to want time away from work and time to be with their families. They basically know what their status is at their job and now find time to slow down and start focusing on other aspects in their lives. They might do this by cutting back on the hours they work a week. The near-retirement stage are individuals ranging from the ages of 50 and up. These people are on the verge of retirement and are planning what to do with the rest of their lives. After their careers are over they are going to have nothing but time on they hands. At this point of there careers they are working lesser hours and responsibility at their job is decreasing. This helps make the transition from working to retirement much easier. I made a survey and issued it to three people who fall into the three stages. The survey consisted of a variety of question like age, gender, occupation, wages, leisure time, and activities. The first individual who took the survey fell into the beginning stage. This person is a twenty one year old black male. He is a full time student at Illinois State and workers part time as a life guard at a indoor pool. He is not married and has no children. He works twenty plus hours a week and only makes $6.30 a hour. He works five days a week, but sometimes takes morning shifts on Saturdays. He considered leisure as any time away from work and school. He said he does not get a lot of leisure time, because he does not have any time to just relax. He has class all morning then in the evening he works and comes home and studies. The only leisure time he has is over the weekends. That time does not compensate for the stressful hours of work and school during the week. The survey of this individual from the beginning stage has shown me that being a full time study and working part time, leaves basically no leisure time. Also, shows how people in the beginning stage have no time to relax, because their schedules are so busy. Next I gave a survey to an individual in the mid-career stage. This individual was a forty year old Black male. He is married and has four children who ages range from nineteen to twenty six years old. He works construction and earns $40 plus an hour and works 30 hours a week. He said he has leisure and he uses it. He goes to bars with CO-workers after work some days, or comes home and socializes with his family. He said his leisure time is any time with family and friends and away from work. He said

Katelynn Sampson (Aboriginal foster child murdered) Essay
Katelynn Sampson (Aboriginal foster child murdered) - Essay Example One of Katelynnââ¬â¢s custodial parents, Donna Irving, was taken into custody followed a short time later by the other, Warren Johnson. In the days and months that followed, facts about Katelynnââ¬â¢s short life and sad death emerged. Her biological mother, Bernice Sampson, ââ¬Å"pleaded to three counts of trafficking cocaine in 1998 and was sentenced to 18 months in prisonâ⬠(Toronto Star, 2008). In January of 2008, Sampson was charged with drug trafficking again. If convicted on that charge she could be sentenced to prison which would have put Katelynn into the care of the Childrens Aid Society (CAS). Rather than risk having her daughter placed with CAS, Sampson voluntarily relinquished custody to Irving, who she called ââ¬Å"her best friend.â⬠One account says that Irving ââ¬Å"gained custody of Katelynn through a family court application that did not involve any child and family service agency and showed no signs of a criminal-background checkâ⬠(Toronto Star, 2008). Another claims, ââ¬Å"The hearings before Ontario Court Justice Debra Paulseth involved Katelynns biological mother Bernice S ampson, the guardian now charged with her death, Donna Irving, and native family court worker Bela McPherson. The problems caused by the cereal-cyst nematode (CCN) in many wheat Essay
The problems caused by the cereal-cyst nematode (CCN) in many wheat fields and Saudi Arabias huge amount of loss of underground water due to the attempt of becoming a major agriculture producer of wheat - Essay Example The writers determined the genetic basis of meloidoyne incognita ââ¬âfusarium exosporium lycopersici disease which affected tomatoes as from the inoculations of progeny F2. The paper demonstrated the role of nematode in the disease interactions through resistance breakdown to F Oxysporum lycopersici in the presence of M. It showed that the cysts have a significant effect in the productivity of the important food crops. This paper evaluates the impact of the H.avenae on the spring wheat yields in Northwest Pacific. The condition had been observed on the fields but had not been quantified. It was motivated by the variation in infestation between the fields in dry land and irrigated fields. Heterodera avenae is widely distributed in the western US. These are the regions where wheat is grown in the non-irrigated winter wheat and summer fallows in the regions of low rainfall. The social and economic pressures have motivated growers to pursue a transition into the summer fallow rotation to the no till annual spring cereals. These cereals are also grown in the irrigated fields. Spring wheat was, therefore, planted without aldicarb in determining the relationship between H.avenae and the yields under the irrigated and dry land in moderately infested lands. From the research, the spring wheat productivity was negatively correlated with the initial H.avenae populations. This research paper aims to present valuable information and figures related to agricultural development plans in Saudi Arabia. This is done despite the unsuitable and harsh climate as well as other conditions for normal production in agriculture. This is because of the limited and deteriorating water availability for agricultural productivity. The paper focuses on the condition of Saudi Arabia in improving and increasing the production of agricultural products. The
